I always enjoy this annual publication. The monthly/annual planting dates for root, leaf and fruit crops have been an important resource for me several years now as I have worked to enhance my gardening results in harmony with the earth, planetary and cosmic cycles. Although there are too many aspects of gardening/agriculture mentioned for me to cover, I especially valued the section on seed quality and seed saving. While I have reasonably enhanced my gardening skills in past years, I have always relied on commercial seed and have felt that I somehow lacked integrity as a gardener in this area. Thun points out that this dependence can leave the one vulnerable to the problems with the declining quality of commercial seed. Thus, this publication helped to open my eyes to a new avenue of personal empowerment as a gardener by developing seed saving skills. This issue also shows that Thun is very much in touch with the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner who founded the practice of bio-dynamics. Steiner was very much concerned with improving the harvests and nutrition of agriculture. However, he also was concerned about the earth itself losing its vitality and saw agriculture as an important means of revitalizing the earth. So not only is the focus on seed quality practical for individual gardeners, but it also seems appropriate that we concern ourselves with an issue that is much larger than ourselves.Product details

If you can't wrap your mind about the Stella Natura but wish you could, this is the calenar you've been looking for. Very simply tells you when to do what. (Her book is a good companion to help you remember cauliflower is a leaf plant while broccoli is a flower plant.)
Being a BD gardener I wouldn't garden without it. I check the calendar daily and it's full of useful gardening tips. My once "non-believers" family and friends now ask me when to plant and what the weather is going to be like. Great for any gardener who likes to try new things.
